Having been born and raised in a small farming community in Iowa, modeling was something that was just a distant dream. I never imagined I would actually get a chance to do it. Even though I’m not considered “model” shape or size by society’s standards, I had always secretly wanted to do it. After going through a marriage, a child, a divorce and trying to make it on my own, I REALLY didn’t think I would have an opportunity, and I was only getting older and older.
I had a friend who was taking a photography class and he casually said he needed a model. I wasn’t sure how to approach him about it, but decided to put myself out there and ask if he had found a model. I was sort of self-conscious about my body shape and seeing
his other projects he had worked on were with much younger, THINNER models. He basically said that everyone has a different size and shape, and he was looking forward to collaborating.
I have had the privilege to work with several photographers since who have worked with my curves and we have created some amazing work together. I am still self-conscious about my shape when compared to other models I see, but i have also come to realize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with curves.
I have gravitated mostly towards the buxom pinup style of modeling and recently was approached by a photographer who works in the cigar industry.
These cigar shoots have opened up a totally new world in my modeling and I have gotten to meet some really great people at meet and greets in the cigar bars in my area. And I am starting to gain an appreciation for a premium hand-rolled cigar.
