A Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter that is a perfect dessert beer.
First brewed in 2011, Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is a complex, robust porter. It is jet black in color with a tan head, full-bodied and creamy with a satiny smooth mouth-feel.
It pours like a typical porter – smooth, dark and decadent with a gorgeous head. The smell of chocolate and peanut butter with hints of cream and oats is absolutely intoxicating. It smells incredibly delicious.
It tastes just as good as it smells. It enters the hatch with a lightly sweet, malty flavor accented by strong notes of chocolate, milky cream coffee and peanut butter. It’s balanced by a subtle hop character that creates a milk-stout feel in the mouth.
It coats the tongue with thick, palpable flavors of chocolate peanut butter that kept me thirsting for more. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry and roasty with notes of chocolate, espresso and of course, peanut butter.
Overall this beer is best left for dessert, a treat after dinner or like me, paired with an Emilio AF2 cigar for a relaxing end to a stressful week. The dominate flavors of peanut butter and chocolate were consistent throughout the bottle. It was smooth, tasty and sweet. A nice flavorful beer that drinks like a liquid Reese’s Peanut Butter cup, and who doesn’t like those?
